American Airlines: Now With Over 2,500 Canceled Flights This Week!

If you haven't been following the airline industry this week, here's a quick recap: American Airlines started inspecting their MD-80 aircraft on Monday, with reports for Monday and Tuesday indicating anywhere from 400-500+ canceled flights. Same thing for Wednesday. Now, today is Thursday by the way, they've called off another 933.

I'm all about airline safety, but putting it off until the last minute doesn't seem to work. From a commenter on Consumerist:

"It's really hell here in o'hare, man. I was on airways flight going to Pittsburgh, and the american airlines desks are near by and you could see probably a few hundred people getting pissed and missing important flights. One person got police on her because of her anger then she threatened to sue them for not proper inspections of planes."

Sounds awesome...
